What Is a Wedding Announcement Card?
A wedding announcement card is sent after the wedding rather than before — it tells friends, family and anyone else who matters that you're now married. It's different from a wedding invitation, which asks people to attend. An announcement simply shares the news after the day has passed.
They're most often used by couples who had a small or intimate ceremony, eloped, or chose to marry without a large guest list — but they're just as fitting for anyone who wants to mark the moment with something more considered than a text message or post. A printed card, personalised and hand finished, is a keepsake. It's also a far more memorable way to share the news than anything digital.
We Got Married Cards & Just Married Announcements
"We got married" cards and "just married" announcements are, in practice, the same thing as wedding announcement cards — they're simply the way most people search for them. Whatever you call them, the purpose is the same: a beautiful, personalised card that tells the people you care about that you've tied the knot.
Ours are printed on luxury card and finished by hand in our Surrey studio. The wording is entirely yours — formal or casual, minimal or full of detail — and you'll see a proof before anything goes to print.
Elopement Announcement Cards
Elopements have changed. What once meant a rushed registry office and a secret kept from the family is now, for many couples, a deliberate, considered choice — a ceremony that belongs entirely to the two of them, without the logistics and expense of a large wedding. If that's how your day went, an elopement announcement card is the ideal way to share it.
Our elopement announcement cards are the same product as our wedding announcement range — the design, finish and quality are identical — but the wording reflects your story. Whether that's a simple "we eloped" with your names and date, or something that captures where you were and what made it yours, we'll help you get it right.
Designed and Made in Our Surrey Studio
Every announcement card is designed, printed and hand finished in our studio near Chobham in Surrey. We're a small, family-run team, and every card that leaves here has been through our hands — so the quality is consistent, the finish is deliberate, and if you have a question about your order, you're speaking to the people who made it.
We use UK-sourced luxury card throughout, and our hand finishing includes options like metallic foiling — so your announcement feels as significant as the news it carries.
Personalise Your Wedding Announcement
Every card is fully personalised to your day. Add your names, your date, the location if you'd like it included, and a message that fits the tone — formal and traditional, or relaxed and warm. You can also choose your card colour and finish, and request small adjustments to the layout.
Before anything is printed, we send you a proof to check. That's your chance to read through the wording, confirm the layout looks right, and make any final changes — we aim to turn proofs around within 48 hours of receiving your details. Once you're happy and approve it, we go straight into production.
Wedding Announcement Wording: What to Write
The wording on a wedding announcement card is simpler than a wedding invitation — there's no venue logistics or RSVP deadline to include. Most announcements contain three things: your names, the date you were married, and optionally the location. Everything beyond that is up to you.
Traditional wording tends to be third-person and formal — "Mr & Mrs [Name] are delighted to announce the marriage of…" — but most couples now write in a way that sounds like them. Something like "We got married — [names], [date], [place]" works perfectly well, and carries more personality than a formal announcement. Every design on this page comes with sample wording already in place, so you can see a finished example before you start personalising your own.
When to Send Wedding Announcement Cards
Wedding announcement cards are sent after the ceremony, typically within two to six weeks of your wedding day. That gives you time to settle back in, and if you're waiting on wedding photographs, a little longer is perfectly fine — though sooner tends to feel more immediate and personal.
If you eloped or had a very small ceremony, you may want to send them a little sooner — particularly to close family who weren't there. An announcement arriving within a few weeks of the day feels like news; arriving months later, it starts to feel like an afterthought.
From 95p Per Card, UK-Wide Delivery
Our wedding announcement cards start from 95p per card, with the final price depending on the design and any finishing you choose. Orders are dispatched by tracked Royal Mail delivery to anywhere in the UK, so whether you're in Surrey, Scotland or anywhere in between, your cards arrive safely and on time.
Matching Your Wedding Stationery
If you'd like your announcement to feel like part of a wider set, our designs are built to work alongside our other stationery. Couples who had a larger wedding sometimes order announcement cards to send to anyone who couldn't attend — in which case a design that echoes your wedding invitations makes sense. And if you're still planning your day, save the date cards are the natural starting point.
Wedding Announcement Card FAQs
What is the difference between a wedding announcement and a wedding invitation?
A wedding invitation is sent before the wedding and asks people to attend. A wedding announcement card is sent after the ceremony to share the news that you're now married — there's no RSVP involved. Announcements are most common after intimate ceremonies, elopements, or private weddings.
When should I send wedding announcement cards?
Most couples send wedding announcement cards within two to six weeks of the ceremony. If you're waiting on wedding photographs, a little longer is fine — but sooner feels more like news. For elopements, aim to send within a few weeks of the day, particularly to close family.
What should I write on a wedding announcement card?
At minimum, include your names and the date you were married. Many couples also add the location. The tone is entirely up to you — traditional third-person wording works well, but so does something simple and personal like "We got married — [names], [date]." Every design comes with sample wording already in place so you can see a real example before personalising your own.
Do you make elopement announcement cards?
Yes — our wedding announcement cards cover elopements, intimate ceremonies and private weddings. The designs, card quality and personalisation process are exactly the same; the wording simply reflects your particular day. "We eloped," "Just married," "It's official" — whatever fits your story, we can set it out beautifully.
Will I see a proof before my announcement cards are printed?
Yes. We send a proof of your personalised design so you can check the wording, names, date and layout before anything goes to print. We aim to turn proofs around within 48 hours of receiving your details. Once you approve it, we move straight into production.
How much do wedding announcement cards cost?
Our wedding announcement cards start from 95p per card. The final price depends on the design and any additional finishing — you'll see the full price before you personalise or order anything.
Do you deliver across the UK?
Yes — we send all orders by tracked Royal Mail delivery to anywhere in the UK, including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Can I match my announcement cards to my wedding invitations?
Yes — if you'd like your announcement to feel like part of a wider stationery set, our designs are built to work alongside our wedding invitations and save the date cards. Just ask when you order if you'd like a particular design matched or co-ordinated.
